I.O.O.F. Bethesda Encampment
Description:
This document contains information pertaining to the officers of the Bethesda Encampment Number 15 (Crawfordsville Chapter) of the I.O.O.F. (Independent Order of Odd Fellows). The encampment was instituted on 1849-07-23 by Laz. Noble. Names mentioned in the document include: Milton Herndon, Samuel W. Austin, Wiley Kenyon, James T. Watson, Samuel C. Willson, Taylor W. Webster, Robert R. Gray, John A. Hardee, Hiram Burroughs, John A. Booe, Willaim H. Vanslyke, Alfred J. McClelland, and John A. Griffin. Both sides of the document are available in the attached pdf. The file size of the pdf is 4.05 MB. The paper is dated 1875-05-04, and it was included in a collection of documents placed in the cornerstone of the Montgomery County Courthouse (the current building) on 1875-05-06, two days after the note was written.

Abijah O'Neall II is seated and holding a book. O'Neall was born Dec 9, 1798 in South Carolina and died June 9, 1874 at Yountsville (Ind.) Abijah O'Neall helped with the Underground Railroad. Wiley Kenyon (1822-1900) married Abijah's daughter Mary Elizabeth (1837-1895).
