Crawfordsville native Joseph Stephen Crane (a.k.a. Joe Crane) was a college senior at Wabash College when this photograph was taken in 1937. It was printed in the Wabash College yearbook in 1937. The photograph was taken two years before Crane moved to Hollywood, California. The yearbook lists his name as Josef S. Crane and indicates that he was involved in Sigma Chi, Senior Council, the Bachelor, Chorus, Caveman, and Scarlet Masque at Wabash College. This original photograph features Crawfordsville native Joseph Stephen Crane (a.k.a. Joe Crane) in his third and final film for Columbia Pictures. "Tonight and Every Night" (1944) is a musical set in London during World War II. The film starred Rita Hayworth, Janet Blair, Lee Bowman, Marc Platt, and Leslie Brooks.  Stephen Crane (second from left) played the character of Observer Leslie Wiggins and was prominently featured in key scenes of the film. This photograph was donated to the library by Emily Griffin, July 2010. It is located in Local History archival storage.
