The project for a Veterans database originated when staff at the Crawfordsville District Public Library realized that its collection of graves registration cards was incomplete and unusable. Thanks to transcription efforts by Latter Day Saint Elders volunteers and Reference staff member Adam Rice, we were able to begin a database that Dellie Craig is correcting and supplementing by using some of our existing records. Some of this recorded information will not be found through any other sources; thus, this list may provide genealogical data unlocking the door for many family historians of our area. Search Tips
- Search by Last name first, First name last: Smith, John
- Use * as a wild card character: John* finds John, Johns, Johnson, etc.
- Use the Keyword field to search throughout the entire record for other data such as war, rank, outfit, enlistment dates, etc.
- Dates are stored in the international standard YYYY-MM-DD (ex: 1869-03-04). If searching by exact date, use YYYY-MM-DD
- Use : for limiting dates to a range (for example: 1920:1925 finds dates from Jan. 1, 1920 through Dec. 31, 1925). Use a moth and year to limit dates (for example: January 1930 finds all dates in January 1930).
